038 Eggplant is one of three new eyeshadow shades in Addiction's 2010 Spring Collection "Pastel Rainbow." It is a classic, royal purple that is chic, modern and fashion-forward. It contains silver and red shimmer and has a lovely pearly-finish. The shimmer is very subtle and disappears within an hour or so of wear but the shadow itself is soft, well-pigmented and does not fade easily. Eggplant is great for a smokey eye and a wonderful eyeshadow to add to your makeup collection if you like purple hues. One Addiction shadow is 2,100 yen (including tax). All of the eye shadows in the Pastel Rainbow collection are limited edition colors. Addiction also offers another great purple shadow called Missa, which is part of their permanent collection.

Would you say Addiction eyeshdadows are similar in texture as Nars? Are the shimmers/glitters finer than other Japanese brands? I have a problem with the chunky glitters in Japanese eyeshadow. Even popular name-brand ones like Lunasol, Coffret D'Or, and Esprigue Precious. The glitter sizes are too big and irritate my eyelids :( Are the Addiction eyeshadows any different, would you say?
The color looks very elegant, shiny and femenine.

The eye shadows are quite similar to Nars. (Ayako used to be the Makeup Director for Nars which is probably why they have a very similar look and style.) But I think the Addiction shadows are softer and blend more easily.
As for the glitter, it varies. The shimmer in Eggplant is very fine and subtle. The shimmer in Sugar Angel is not quite as subtle but also very fine. Addiction is not really into the sparkly look. Most of their shadows have a matte, metallic or pearly finish. Only four of their shadows in their permanent collection are labeled as sparkly and as long as you avoid them, I think you'll be okay. I'm not a fan of chunky glitter, either. It always ends up falling into your eyes!
