Etude House Hand Bouquet Rich Butter Mask

エチュードハウスは韓国で最も人気のある、もしくは最も人気のあるコスメブランドのひとつで、アジア諸国に店舗があります。残念ながら、現在日本にはまだお店がありませんが、日本語のウェブサイトがオープンしたので、もうすぐ日本でもお目にかかれるようになるかもしれません。

Etude House is one of, if not the most, popular cosmetics brands in Korea, with several locations across Asia. Unfortunately, there is no Etude House in Japan at this time but the company has started up a Japanese website and hopefully, this means that we will be seeing the brand in Tokyo very soon.

ほとんどの韓国のコスメブランドがそれぞれ独自のフェイスシートマスクを販売しているのに対し、エチュードハウスは恐らく手のシートマスクを扱っている唯一のブランドだと思います。今年の１月に、メイクアップアーティストのIKKOさんが、人気のあるビューティーTV番組の「おネエ★MANS」でハンドブーケ リッチバターマスクを紹介しました。このマスクにはシアバター、高い保水力を持つ炭水化物のトレハロース、そしてオリーブオイルとアロエエキスが入っています。残念ながら、このマスクは肌を刺激することでよく知られるミネラルオイル、香料、フェノキエタノールを含んでいます。

While most Korean cosmetics brands offer their own facial sheet masks, Etude House may be the only brand that carries sheet masks for the hands. Back in January, makeup artist Ikko-san introduced the Hand Bouquet in Rich Butter Mask on the popular beauty TV program, "Onē★Mans." The mask ingredients include shea butter, the moisture-retaining carbohydrate trehalose, and olive and aloe extract. Unfortunately, the mask also contains mineral oil, perfume and phenoxyethanol, which are all known skin irritants.


このマスクを使う前に、手が綺麗であることを確認して下さい。シートマスクに手を入れてその上からプラスチックの手袋をかぶせ、マスクのエキスがそこら中に広がってしまわないようにします。このプラスチックの手袋は皮膚への浸透速度を速めてくれます。手袋をつけたら、マスクのパッケージに書かれている説明の通りに手のツボを押してマッサージします。１５～２０分後、手袋とマスクを取り外し、肌に残ったエキスをすり込みます。マスクのパッケージには、親指のすぐ下から手首のすぐ上までのツボをマッサージすると、“sniffles(スニッフル)”（鼻をすすること）に良いと書かれていますが、少し自分でリサーチしたところによると、伝統的な中国医療ではその辺りのツボはリンパ腺、肺、胸部に関係があるらしいです。“sniffles(スニッフル)”ですが、エチュードハウスが本当に言いたかったのは鼻水をすするのではなく、鼻づまり等を防いで呼吸しやすくすることだと思います。でも、“sniffles(スニッフル)”は可愛らしい表現なので、それもエチュードハウスっぽいと思います。

Before using the mask, make sure your hands are clean. Slip on the sheet mask and put on the plastic gloves to keep the butter extract from getting all over the place. The plastic gloves will also help speed up the (skin permeation) process. Once the gloves are on, massage your hands and apply pressure to the accupoints as directed on the hand mask package. After 15-20 minutes, remove the mask and rub any remaining solution into your skin. Although the mask indicates that massaging the pressure points right below your thumb and near your wrist will help with your "sniffles," I did a little research and found out that area is actually associated with the lymph glands and lung and chest area in traditional Chinese medicine. By "sniffles," I think Etude House is actually referring to nasal decongestion and not curing a runny nose. "Sniffles" is very cute way to refer to sinus problems, however, and cute is very Etude House.


やはり、マスクは私のアトピーの手を刺激し、マスクのエキスを洗い流した後もしばらくひりひりしました。もう片方の手はアトピーではないのでとてもスムーズで柔らかくなりました。シアバターがとても保湿効果がありましたが、普通のシアバターよりも油っこくなく、エキスもベトベトしませんでした。もうひとつのハンドブーケのマスクにリッチコラーゲンがありますが、そちらは後ほどレビューします。今のところは、左手だけにリッチバターを使っています。シートマスクや韓国のコスメに興味がある人には、ハンドブーケ リッチバターをオススメします。でも、手にアトピーや問題がある方は使用を控えた方が良いかもしれません。マスクは１セットで２０００ウォンです。エチュードハウスは同じように足のためのシートマスクを販売しています。

Unsurprisingly, the mask irritated my eczematic hand and my right hand stung long after washing off any remaining essence. On the other "hand," my eczema-free hand was very smooth and soft after using the mask. The shea butter was very moisturizing but not as oily as it can often get and the extract was not sticky, either. There is another Hand Bouquet mask, Rich Collagen, which I also purchased and will review sometime later. For now, I will be using Rich Butter only on my left hand. For anyone interested in sheet masks or Korean cosmetics in general, I highly recommend trying out Hand Bouquet Rich Butter. But anyone suffering from skin dermatitis on their hands should probably avoid the masks. One mask set for both hands costs 2000 won. Etude House also carries a similar sheet mask for the feet.

Facial Yoga with Fumiko

Facial Yoga instructor Fumiko Takatsu appeared on last week's episode of Oneē★MANS . She introduced facial exercises combined with traditional yoga postures to tighten the face and strengthen muscle. According to Fumiko, we only use 20% of our 60 different facial muscles which is why our face begins to sag as we age. By doing simple facial exercises daily, you can reduce neck fat, add more symmetry to your face, and slow down the aging process.

フェイシャルヨガの先生、高津文美子は先週のおネエ★MANSに出ました。顔をリフトアップし、表情筋を強くするためのフェイシャルエクササイズとヨガポーズのコンビネーションを導入しました。文美子先生が言うには、私たちは６０種類ある表情筋の２０％しか使わないので、年を取ると顔がたるんでしまいます。毎日簡単なフェイシャルエクササイズを行うと、首の脂肪が減って、顔がもっと対称的になり、アンチエイジングになります。

What impressed me most with Fumiko was that, not only she did seem to lack a single ounce of fat on her face and looked quite youthful for her age, she was able to move all sorts of facial muscles that I didn't even know you could control. In addition to face-firming tools and how-to books, Fumiko has her own facial yoga DVD that can be purchased online or at health and beauty stores, such as Loft.

感動したのは、文美子先生の全く脂肪の無い小顔や若さより、全く動かせるとは思えないような表情筋を動かせることです。小顔にするツールや本に加え、文美子先生は自分のフェイシャルヨガのDVDを出しています。インターネットでも買えますし、健康・美容、またはロフトなどのお店で手に入れることができます。


The Facial Yoga DVD comes with a large, compact mirror so you can watch your facial expressions as you work out. The DVD is divided into 3 parts: 1. Facial Yoga 2. Facial Yoga Body Plus 3. Facial Yoga Let's Dance! The first part contains all of the basic facial exercises and lasts about 13 minutes. The second part, which is almost 15 minutes long, combines the facial exercises with traditional yoga poses and mat exercises. The final part combines facial exercise with yoga and standing exercises. I'm not sure why it's called Let's Dance! as it doesn't involve much dancing but it does require more body movement than the first two sections of the DVD. Altogether, the DVD is almost 50 minutes long.

フェイシャルヨガのDVDには、運動をしながら顔の表情を見ための大きいコンパクト鏡が付きます。DVDが３つのパートに分かれています：　1. フェイシャルヨガ　2. フェイシャルヨガ・ボディプラス　 3. フェイシャルヨガ・レッツダンス！　パート１は約１３分でベーシックの顔エクササイズ、表情筋トレーニングだけです。次のパートは１５分近く、顔のエクササイズをしながら伝統的なヨガのポーズとマットの運動をします。ラストのパートは顔のエクササイズとヨガと立ち運動。あんまりダンスが入っていないので、なぜ「レッツダンス！」と名付けたのか分かりませんが、パート１と２より身体を動かしたりします。DVD全体は５０分くらいです。

The facial exercises may seem incredibly silly but that is what makes them fun. If they weren't silly, you would probably lose interest. My favourite facial yoga expression would have to be the "Yummy-Face" which reminds me of Fujiya's Peko-chan." The body movements and yoga postures are quite simple. If you've had some experience with yoga, the exercises are even easier to pick up. Although the DVD is very easy to follow, it could benefit from a glossary or a small pamphlet explaining the facial exercises in detail and what specific muscles they work. Sometimes the sound effects are a little annoying but otherwise, it is a nice product.

顔の表情がちょっと可笑しいかも知れませんが、それが楽しみです。可笑しくなかったら多分、興味なくなります。一番好きなファイシャルヨガ表情は、不二家のペコちゃんに似ている「おいしい顔」です。身体の動きやヨガのポーズはかなりシンプル。ヨガの経験がある方にはエクササイズをもっと簡単に覚えられます。フェイシャルヨガのDVDはとても分かりやすいですが、詳しい顔のエクササイズやどの表情筋を運動させているかを説明するグロッサリーやパンプレットがあった方が更にいいと思います。たまに効果音がちょっとイライラしますが、それ以外はとてもいい商品だと思います。

Although I only started the exercises a few days ago, I already think that my face is a little thinner and more symmetrical though this may be wishful thinking. Even so, I certainly feel my face and neck muscles working and I enjoy the exercises. Keep in mind, I do the full 50 minute facial yoga in addition to my daily 1 to 1.5 hours of exercise. Facial yoga is not body intensive and should be a supplement to and not replace your regular exercise. Fumiko also teaches classes in the US and Japan, although I imagine it is very difficult to reserve a spot due to her soaring popularity right now. The DVD is 3990 including tax.

数日前にフェイシャルヨガを始めましたが、もう顔が少し痩せて、前より対称的になったと思います。これはただの思い込みかもしれませんが、顔や首の筋肉が働いてることも感じていますし、エクササイズが楽しいです。ただし、私は５０分のフェイシャルヨガの上に毎日1〜1.5時間の普通の運動をしています。フェイシャルヨガはそれほど身体にキツくないので普通のエクササイズの代わりではありません。いつもの運動と一緒にやった方がいいと思います。文美子先生は日本とアメリカでレッスンを行っていますが、今はとても人気者なので入りにくいかもしれません。DVDは税込3990円です。

Did you have a chance to catch Oneē★MANS on Nippon TV yesterday? Onē★Mans is a bit like Queer-Eye from the US, with a cast of gay men who are experts in the field of makeup, fashion, culinary arts, flower arrangement, and more. The show targets women, young and old, who are looking for beauty tips, fashion advice, and ways to turn their life around. Every show, Japanese actresses and idols are invited to wash off their makeup and get a makeover from makeup artist, IKKO. IKKO often uses skincare and makeup products from collections that have yet to be released. Yesterday, he introduced a pore concealer from Yves Saint Laurent coming out in March and last month, he used Jill Stuart's jelly eye color in 22, that is coming out next month, on an idol. Often the products that IKKO raves about on television become best-sellers, such as Hanskin's BB cream, Missha's BB Cream, and the Gojitto Cell(ulite) Roller. You can bet that the jelly eye color and pore concealer will be best-sellers this year, too.
